15th Online Film Critics Awards Nominations 26.Dec.11 • Awards 2.Jan.12 Notes by Rich: The Online Film Critics Society was established in 1997, and is now part of the mainstream awards season. Members come from all over the world, but the predominantly American membership is clearly represented in nominations that only throw a few nods to films from outside the USA aside from the expected ones. A few surprises: no Margaret, Vanessa Redgrave, The Help, Kenneth Branagh. Way too much Hugo (this year's fanboy cause). So it's intriguing to see Tree of Life sweep the boards, plus the edgier Actor/Actress wins (but the screenplays, huh?). In casting my own votes I veer off the beaten path, but rarely get anywhere; my favourite nominees were Asghar Farhadi for screenwriter and Lars von Trier for director.
