Nominations 7.Dec.15 • Winners 14.Dec.16

Notes by Rich: The Online Film Critics Society was established in 1997, and is now part of the mainstream awards season. Members come from all over the world, but the predominantly American membership is starting to give way to more global critics, as evidenced by some quirky nominations and a new (noncompetitive) list of the 10 best non-U.S. releases. Nominations this year are a bit more mainstream than usual for this group, which tends to seek out offbeat films. The only surprises were nominating Mara and Vikander in the wrong category for leading roles (which allowed both Blanchett and Mara to win). And it's not hugely unexpected that Mad Max won the top prizes from this group. And rightly so.
