12th Online Film Critics AwardsNominations 5 Jan 09 • Awards 18 Jan 08
Notes by Rich: Once again, the online critics come up with a slightly over-serious list of nominees, that draws heavily on buzz and awards expectations - which is pointedly clear in the large number of nominations for American darling The Dark Knight and audience favourite Slumdog Millionaire. There aren't many real surprises (no sign of either Clint Eastwood film), but there are some interesting quirks (Waltz With Bashir in foreign and animated categories, but not as a doc). Plus lots of love for WALL-E. Look for the winners to be more of an attempt to predict Oscar than to truly express the critics' real favourites. But I'm voting for my faves! |
