Nominations Tue 9.Jan.18 • Awards Sun 18 Feb 18 at Royal Albert Hall

Notes from Rich: The quirks this year for Bafta were mainly in the nominations stage, with odd under-representation for homegrown gems like God's Own Country and Lady Macbeth and complete snubs for bigger titles like Mudbound and The Post. So the only unexpected wins were in those categories: it was great to see I Am Not a Witch take the debut award, but Three Billboards also winning British Film seemed a little indulgent. Otherwise it was all fairly predictable. And once again, the BBC's bizarre two-hour tape delay on its heavily edited broadcast continues to suck the life from the show. And this year's show script was appalling, leaving the rather dry Joanna Lumley with little more than one adjective each as she introduced the presenters. Please bring this show into the 21st century.
